WSM Stationary Screwdriving Unit, Screwdriving Station
Assembly of components for car radios and navigation systems, as well as testing of the same.
The assembly station is enclosed in a protective housing. The service doors are equipped with monitored safety switches with interlock (locking mechanism). In automatic mode, the doors are locked and can only be opened after an emergency stop or in manual mode by pressing the door button on the control panel. Automatic operation cannot be started if a door is open.
Process Sequence
The station is loaded with the pre-assembled module via the conveyor belt. Below are the automated station work steps for processing a workpiece carrier (WT). Under normal operation, all three stations work in parallel.

- Positioning of the WT with the pre-assembled module in station 2.1
- Lowering of the carrier with scanner and vision sensor
- Scanning of the three codes (front panel, front PCB, SD PCB), cross-check with the database
- Checking the correct locking of the FFC in the connector
- Raising the carrier and lowering the WT onto the conveyor
- Positioning the WT with the pre-assembled module in station 2.2
- Positioning the screwdriver and fastening the front PCB
- Lowering the WT onto the conveyor
- Positioning the WT with the pre-assembled module in station 2.3
- Lowering of the light protection hood and contacting, approaching the carrier with test sensors from below
- Type-dependent testing of the illumination of SD and CD slots and pushbuttons
- Functional test of the CD ejection button
- Lowering the WT onto the conveyor > continue
If errors occur during testing, they are displayed on the screen and can be remedied if possible. To do this, switch to manual mode and open the doors. After repair and restarting automatic operation, the WT in the station will be retested. If repair is not possible (e.g. screwdriving error), the WT is marked as NIO (Not OK) in the control system and is not processed further. A manual NIO marking and ejection is also possible.
