The Bergmann PS1400 is an intelligent compaction station, also known as a mini compactor, offering an alternative to traditional baling presses. Instead of compressing recyclable materials into bales, the PS1400-E directly compacts recyclables into a large plastic bag (approx. 1,400 liters) positioned on a pallet. This system is ideal for environments where recyclable materials are continuously generated, such as distribution centers, supermarkets, or manufacturing companies with significant packaging waste.

Thanks to its use of a rotating compaction roller rather than an up-and-down compaction plate, the PS1400-E can process recyclable streams continuously without needing to pause for separate compaction cycles. You simply load cardboard, plastic film, residual waste, or other materials into the machine’s hopper. A powerful steel roller equipped with cutting blades grabs the material, tears it into pieces, and presses it down into the bag.

Continuous loading is possible—the fill opening can remain open while the roller is operating, which means there is no waiting time. This capability to load continuously greatly increases processing speed compared to, for example, a baler (where you need to wait for each press cycle to finish before the door can be reopened). The PS1400 is user-friendly: with a simple start/stop button or even fully automatic operation (on some models, it starts when recyclable material is detected). Because recyclable material is neatly compacted into a sturdy PE bag, you end up with a compact "block" of recyclables on a pallet. This can easily be sealed and moved using a pallet truck or forklift. A major advantage is that packaged waste bales remain clean and leak-proof, allowing them to be transported with goods without the risk of contamination. This is particularly convenient in settings like supermarkets or manufacturing sites: the compacted waste bags can be sent back on the delivery truck, avoiding empty return trips.

With the PS1400, you not only save storage space (potentially reducing waste volume by up to 80%, depending on the material) but also labor time. Employees need to visit the waste container less often, and do not need to band or lift bales—the waste bag is only replaced when it is full, which takes much longer. The machine is safe (equipped with an emergency stop and guarded access) and, thanks to electric drive, operates relatively quietly. Maintenance requirements are minimal: the rotating compaction roller is self-cleaning and the hydraulics are robustly designed.
