A mesh applied to a poorly prepared surface will peel off or corrode after a short period. Ensuring the best coating essentially relies on proper degreasing—the foundation of any painting process. The coating applied to inadequately degreased parts will detach very quickly. After degreasing, the next step is to roughen the outer layer of the part, which improves paint adhesion (e.g., when bending sheet metal) and also provides protection, such as through a phosphate coating, which in turn extends corrosion resistance.
