Only one vessel is in operation at a time, while the other is regenerating or on standby. In the softener, calcium and magnesium are replaced by sodium. The system is equipped with volume control, which switches to the other vessel when the preset volume is reached. Regeneration is performed with brine from the salt tank. The hardness at the outlet is 0°dH. 2. Reverse osmosis: The reverse osmosis unit fills the permeate tank with demineralized water, known as permeate. Depending on the raw water quality, water temperature, membrane condition, and correct settings, different conductivities and operating pressures result. Upon initial commissioning, the following flow rates are set: permeate 600 l/h, concentrate 200 l/h, corresponding to a yield of 75%. 3. Permeate tank and ozonation: The non-pressurized 500 l permeate tank features adjustable level control. For ozonation, water from the permeate tank is circulated via a controllable ozone injection point. Ozone is generated in the ozone generator by silent electrical discharge from air and supplied as an ozone-air mixture. Air and undissolved ozone rise in the permeate tank and are discharged via the ozone destructor. After the centrifugal pump, redox potential and ozone concentration are measured for monitoring.
