In the manufacturing process for spiral bevel gears, the quality of the gear cutting tools used is critical. Especially in dry cutting, achieving high gear quality and long tool life is only possible with precisely adjusted cutter heads.
The Oerlikon Cutter Head Setting and Testing Device CS 200 enables quick and easy adjustment of individual cutters, checks their position, and documents the measurement results. The measuring process on the CNC-controlled testing device is semi-automated: Each step in the procedure is displayed on the screen via operator guidance. The positioning of individual cutters in the cutter head and the height of the cutter tips are managed by a special process that is largely automatic and simultaneously documented in a runout diagram. A subsequent measuring run checks the radial position of the inner and outer cutting edges of all the knives in the cutter head. If individual test parameters on the knives do not meet the specified tolerances, they can be individually readjusted.
Combining a semi-automated setting sequence, operator-guided setup actions, and automated measurement procedures, cutter heads can be adjusted conveniently, quickly, and with high precision.

- Graphical display of the cutter head configuration and measurement results with tolerance monitoring
- Step-by-step operator instructions in plain text (without coded information)
- Simple assignment of measurement results to individual cutters
- Documentation of adjustment and measurement results via printer
- Setting and testing sequence suitable for stick blade cutter heads of the types ARCON®, RSR, Spirapid, SPIRON®, TRI-AC®
- Interface for neutral data
