Description:

The machine concept is exceptionally straightforward. The workpiece is placed into the machine. A quickly adjustable stop with pneumatic locking centers the workpiece within the machine. After actuating a foot switch, the workpiece is clamped pneumatically and automatically conveyed to the drilling unit (30 m/min).

The vertical spindles drill from below, ensuring that resulting chips do not remain on the workpiece as they would with conventional machining centers. The horizontal spindles process from two sides of the workpiece.

The workpiece length can be arbitrary, as it is fed to the drilling unit (X-axis). The drilling spindles are freely programmable individually or in blocks and move along the Y-axis. Drilling depth and the horizontal drilling process are managed by the Z-axis.

After all drilling operations are completed, the workpiece is conveyed back to the infeed side or, upon request, to the outfeed side.

Unlike conventional machining centers where the workpiece is held with vacuum and vacuum pods must be set to the workpiece size, this step is completely eliminated in the 3-axis controlled point-to-point drilling machine.
