The sorter consists of:

a) Three roller conveyor lines with 72 dispatch stations
b) One additional roller conveyor line
c) Parallel to each dispatch line (3 lines) and to the returns line (1 line), there is a belt conveyor for rejecting surplus cartons (leads outside the building to a compactor container, which is not part of this offer)
d) One chute line with 46 destinations, equipped with a scanner for determining the size and weight of individual parcels

This sorter is rated for a throughput of 6,000 parcels per hour. The valuation includes additional photographic documentation showing the technical condition and detailed components of the sorter.

Sorter operation overview: the system prepares parcels for shipping and assigns them to a specific carrier. Goods should be packed in a box or polybag. The operator scans the item and generates a label for the box or polybag. Information about the box/container is sent by the sorter to the VanRiet controller. Meanwhile, the operator loads the box/container onto the loading line. Products are transported down the line, merged onto one transport line, then at the end a scanner with a camera identifies the product, measures its dimensions, and the product is diverted to its designated output (collection point for parcels ready for shipping).

The VanRiet sorter is designed to handle products of various sizes:
- Boxes: length 150–800 mm, width 100–600 mm, height 10–400 mm, weight 0.25–32 kg
- Polybags: length 200–550 mm, width 150–550 mm, height 13–400 mm, weight 0.25–10 kg

The sorter can handle up to 6,000 parcels per hour, distributing shipments to one of 46 directions. The overall layout is shown in the diagram below. Lines 1–3 are dispatch lines, while line 4 (added in 2020) is used for processing returns.
