Scratch tester for characterizing the adhesion and scratch resistance of thin coatings and bulk materials
The scratch testing method involves scratching the surface with a diamond tip under a constant or progressive load. During the scratch process, the sample moves under the video system to examine the various types of damage caused by the tip and correlate them with the applied load.
Images can be digitized and precisely positioned on emission, acoustic, and load diagrams.
This standard procedure enables comparison of different coatings, substrates, coating thicknesses, surface preparations, and the scratch resistance of bulk materials.
