Schmedt PRÄDEKA XL

The PräDeka XL is a semi-automatic machine for the production of book covers in single units as well as small and medium-sized runs. It can process formats from 15 x 15 cm up to 52 x 110 cm. The short setup time allows for economical production from as little as one piece up to medium runs of 2,000 units. The machine is operated by a single operator, who applies glue to the cover material (using a separate gluing machine, such as the PräziCoat) and places the boards (cover panels) in position. Then, the machine wraps the cover material on two sides. After the operator rotates the cover by 90 degrees, the machine wraps the remaining two edges and presses all of the folds.

In addition to book covers, the PräDeka XL can be used to produce almost any product with a wrapped cover material—both around individual and multiple board panels, including those with asymmetrical layouts—such as binder covers, menu covers, photo albums, folders, diploma jackets, sample covers, triple calendar headers, game boards, and more.
