The Reitruder technology operates with co-rotating screws. We have adapted this twin-screw technology for use in direct extrusion lines – primarily for inline compounding. This consolidates multiple process steps into a single operation.

Our twin-screw Reitruder technology processes high proportions of additives and fillers. Instead of pre-mixed compounds, fillers such as calcium carbonate or talcum are continuously dosed. At the same time, direct extrusion reduces energy costs compared to the two-stage process with compounding: Without intermediate cooling and remelting of the plastic, the Reitruder operates in a single production pass from raw material to finished product.

Reitruder RZE 85
EXTRUSION
Among other innovations, the co-rotating twin-screw extruder Reitruder RZE 85 was the centerpiece of Reifenhäuser’s exhibition at the NPE. A differentiated concept with new design elements was developed. The screw geometry was adapted to changing requirements, featuring a greater channel depth and a newly designed feed zone. These measures alone improve feeding when processing PET flakes or regrind, increasing the volume for dosing fillers. This brings significant benefits when processing lower-quality raw materials. In addition, increased efficiency in degassing allows the use of materials with moisture content up to 0.5 percent, minimizing the need for pre-drying.
