Gear tooth rounding is achieved by the combination of the cutter's reciprocating motion and the continuous rotation of the workpiece. The alternate movement of the cutter is produced by the rotation of a cam, which is shaped to create either a radius or corner rounding. A set of 4 cams allows machining in the module range between 1 and 16, inclusive. An adjustment device enables the changeover of the module between the minimum and maximum value of each individual cam. The rotation of the workpiece is controlled by a three-stage gearwheel forming the dividing system. The workpiece lock and the rapid approach of the cutter to the workpiece are controlled by pneumatic servomechanisms. The practicality and speed of the equipment, as well as the wide range of profiles available on the cams, and the ability to process internal gears, make the machine a universal solution suitable for both small and large production batches.
