Description / Functional scope
A DSC is used for the thermal analysis of materials. It measures the heat flow that occurs in a sample during physical or chemical processes as it is heated or cooled under controlled conditions.
The device can be used to investigate the following material properties, among others:
- Melting and solidification temperatures
- Glass transition temperatures (Tg)
- Crystallization
- Phase transitions
- Reaction enthalpies
- Heat capacity
- Purity determination of substances
