Centerless grinding is a process for grinding cylindrical bodies and is used for the mass production of rolls, cylindrical and tapered rollers, nozzle needles, pump pistons, hydraulic sliders, crosses, drills, etc. During plunge centerless grinding, the workpiece is ground in one pass thanks to the movement of the grinding wheel. To achieve this, the grinding and regulating wheels are dressed with a negative profile of the workpiece using a tool. In through-feed or longitudinal grinding, workpieces are machined continuously with axial feed through the regulating gap.
