Root reducer – new (stored, never used)

consists of:

1. Roller Conveyor with Tapered Rollers for Alignment

System Data:
Timber lengths: 2 m to 4.6 m (main length: 2.7 m), extendable up to 8 m (optionally at extra cost)
Log diameter: 200 mm to 1,100 mm
Wood types: Softwood or hardwood, max. individual log weight 2 tonnes
Throughput rate: up to 5 pieces/minute, of which up to 2 pieces with root reduction
Operation: single-shift operation

Description:
Roller conveyor with tapered rollers for round timber, housed bearings (nominal diameter: 60 mm);
Outer diameter of tapered rollers: 450 mm; drive chain: Roller chain 5/4“;
built-in 4-arm hydraulic lifter for transfer to root reducer, steel housing slide bearings;
drive via geared motor with intermediate gear and soft start; integrated photoelectric sensors (2 pcs) for log positioning

2. Root Reducer

Dimensions:

Description:
- 3 powered chain beds, drive chain: roller chain 6/4“ with square drivers
- Driven by geared motor
- 2 support stands with non-driven rollers (roller bearings)
- hydraulically pivoting clamping device for vertical clamping with V-bed
- Drive chain: roller chain 6/4“, powered by geared motor
- Milling spindle with housed bearings, reversible and replaceable knife blocks
(4 cutting edges per knife block), driven by three-phase motor
(Drive power: 75 kW; flexible tyre coupling)
- Star-delta operation for main drive motor (energy saving mode for idling)
- automatic switching during reduction process
- Milling spindle length: 1,200 mm, mounted on a pivot-mounted drive rocker (hydraulic drive)
- 4-arm hydraulic lifter
- integrated hydraulic power unit (15 kW)
- integrated log diameter measurement for automatic calculation of milling time

(control included under pos. 2); for log lengths under 3.5 m, the log positioning must be adjusted (shortened reduction length)
Reduction length for log length 2.7 m: 0.7 m,
for log length 3 m: 0.9 m

3. Control System
- Control cabinets in neutral execution, equipped with controllers for all drives of pos. 1 and 2
- Power supply: 3x400 VAC; Rittal control cabinet; motor contactors and relays by Siemens
- freely programmable control by Bernegger & Rainer
- Control cabinets fully wired and tested
- Spare slots for approx. 5 additional drives
- System wiring diagram
- Signal exchange via potential-free contacts
- Emergency stop system; incl. required sensors; manual operation possible

Functional description of controller:
- automatic reduction mode; for log lengths under 3.5 m, adjustment of log support position required (shortened reduction length)
- automatic log positioning via tapered roller conveyor, reduction process must be activated manually (reduction start preset)
