Based on this, the PLC controller, in conjunction with the photocell, identifies the painted item and activates or deactivates the spray guns at the appropriate moment, resulting in savings of both energy and powder coating material. The PLC controller calculates the time at which the workpiece should appear in the gun zone; based on this, selective activation or deactivation of the spray guns is possible. Integration of light barriers with multiple sensors, both horizontally and vertically: This approach enables precise measurement of the workpiece’s dimensions, which also allows for manipulator control if required. The benefits of using photocells or light barriers are primarily the savings in powder and energy. Unnecessary spraying is eliminated in areas where no workpiece is present.
