Press-in Device for Ceramic Pins in Rotor Shafts

Operating Principle:

The ceramic pins are supplied to an inspection station via a vibratory bowl feeder and pneumatic hose, where the position of any existing one-sided hole is checked using an optical sensor. Incorrectly oriented pins are diverted into a collection container by a pneumatic slide. Correctly oriented pins are fed via another pneumatic hose to the separator of the press-in tool.

The actual pressing process is also pneumatic, utilizing a plunger guided by a roller bearing. Initially, a manually adjustable pressure p1 is used to ensure the pin is not pressed too easily into the shaft. Subsequently, a second manually adjustable pressure p2 is applied to press the pin firmly into the rotor shaft. A disc spring assembly preloaded to 5,000 N ensures that excessive force is not exerted on the pin and shaft.

The rotor shaft must be manually inserted, removed, and clamped in the tool by an operator. This process is safeguarded by a Category 4 light curtain.
