The Hosokawa Alpine Mikro ACM classifier impact mill is ideal for fine grinding of various dry materials, offering precise control over the cut point or maximum particle size due to the integrated classifier wheel design. This micronizer can be used to pulverize a wide range of coarse materials into fine powders within industries that require micronization, such as mineral, chemical, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, etc.

This mill is capable of processing coarse products up to approximately 3 Mohs hardness and achieving extreme fineness with d97 values between 10 and 120 microns (depending on the product) at minimum energy consumption. Grinding takes place at the bottom section of the mill, where a rotating plate equipped with grinding tools (hammers or pins) impacts and projects the particles against the internal grinding track. This liner fractures the particles, reducing their size. Within the same chamber, the airflow carries the fine material to the classifier wheel, where undesired coarse grains are rejected and recirculated for further grinding, while fine particles pass through the classification zone to the next stage, typically filtering. Sometimes a cyclone is installed between the mill and filter, or even an air classifier. Due to the required process air, only minimal temperature increase occurs during milling, compared to other granulation and crushing technologies. The final particle size distribution can be easily adjusted by changing different parameters such as the grinding rotor speed or the classifier wheel speed, air volume, feed rate, etc.
