Scope of Supply

UPZ 100 system with selected grinding tools, small feeding hopper with feed inlet, cooling screw for LN2 feeding, LN2 container, filter, and fines collection drum. Includes control panel, electrical cabinet, and a vacuum cleaner.

LN2 must be supplied by the end user at the installation site.

The Hosokawa Alpine Ultraplex UPZ is a universal fine impact mill, used to pulverize dry, soft materials. This micronizer is ideal for grinding a wide range of coarse products into fine powder in various industries where particle size reduction is necessary, such as minerals, chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, recycling, etc.

This granulator can be used for pre-cutting, breaking, and shredding different materials. It is capable of processing coarse products up to approximately 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness, achieving a final particle size from medium-fine to fine with coarse fractions d97 between 150 and 850 micrometers (µm) depending on the product, with minimal energy consumption. The turbo mill can achieve this broad range of fineness thanks to its wide variety of easily interchangeable grinding tools such as pin disc, hammer plate, beater plate, or pendulum hammers. Some of these tools can be used together with a stator, grinding track (liners), or screen, and even a combination of both, to achieve the desired final fineness. This enables the same machine to process various products, from fibrous roots or spices to plastics, granular chemicals, or mineral products.

Grinding takes place inside the grinding chamber, where the rotor equipped with milling tools impacts and propels the particles against the grinding track or screen (if installed), reducing particle size. The process gas transports the fines to the mill discharge and onto the next stage, typically a filter. Thanks to the required air volume, there is a low temperature increase during grinding compared to other granulation and size reduction technologies. Adjustment of the final particle size distribution can be easily accomplished by changing several parameters such as the grinding rotor’s speed, type of grinding tool and liner, air volume, feed rate, etc.
