The turning device consists of two opposing tables, each with a support surface of 1400 x 900 mm. On the side of the table that is positioned at the bottom when tilting, the supporting steel profiles are angled upwards by 90° to ensure the panel being turned is securely held even in a vertical position during a 90° rotation.

Both tables are arranged opposite each other and are swiveled by hydraulic cylinders by 100°. The tables are mounted on a supporting substructure, with one table fixed and the other movable in relation to it. Movement is achieved using hydraulic cylinders, which can move the roller-mounted table by approx. 300 mm. The substructure also houses the hydraulic and electrical components.
The drive source is a hydraulic power unit that supplies the cylinders with oil according to control commands. The corresponding valves are actuated electrically and/or hydraulically and initiate as well as maintain the required table movements for operation until the turning process is complete.
Special consideration in the hydraulic system’s design is given to operational safety and the sensitive reversal of table movement between tension and compression. The geometry of the tables’ rotational axes results in shifting load effects on the tipping cylinders. The hydraulics are designed to ensure the required performance without overloading components during regular operation. Suitable filters, combined with a generously-sized tank, ensure high availability of the hydraulic system.
The necessary electrical control system is housed entirely in a sheet steel enclosure containing all needed components. The core of the control unit is a PLC that processes operating parameters as per the program instructions. In addition, the system includes an emergency stop function, all relays, and evaluation units required to control the functions. Operation of the turning device is via a control panel with a touchscreen for entering function parameters such as Table 1 tilt up, Table 1 tilt down, Table 1 forward, Table 1 backward, Table 2 tilt up, Table 2 tilt down, as well as automatic start or stop.
To prevent collisions between the tables during manual operation, the PLC programming is designed so that, based on table position data and table inclination, such collisions are impossible.
After resolving an emergency stop situation, the PLC control automatically completes the turning process.
The turning device is equipped with heavy-duty castors and is mobile.
We use several of these devices daily. This one is unused.
