The abbreviation LARC stands for Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo. This refers to the rear ramp of the vehicles, which allowed the military to transport a truck or other military equipment. The XV suffix in LARC indicates the maximum cargo capacity: 15 tons.

The vehicles are made of aluminum and have the following (precise) dimensions: 13.71 m in length, 4.41 m in width, and 4.70 m in height. (US measurements: 45 ft x 15 ft x 14 ft).

The original LARC vehicles were equipped with two Cummins 8-cylinder diesel engines, each producing 300 HP. On land, this allowed for a maximum speed of 48 km/h, and in water 9.5 knots, which is around 18 km/h.

The vehicle's empty weight is 22 tons. The maximum permissible weight was 35.5 tons.

The previous owner intended to convert the vessels to a fully electric drive to subsequently organize sightseeing tours on the Wadden Sea.

Around €200,000 was invested, but the project was not completed.

The diesel engines were removed and are no longer available.

Battery packs are present and partially installed.

What exactly still needs to be completed is unknown.
