The SCHIESS-FRORIEP 40 DV is a vertical turning lathe originally built in 1980.

The machine was modernised and upgraded in 1998.
Among other things, a driven tool system (C-axis) was installed.

The open large vertical lathes with movable column, type DV, are particularly suitable for machining a range of workpieces with frequently changing diameters and only occasional need for maximum dimensions.
