In the plunge grinding process, workpieces with stepped or profiled outer surfaces, such as nozzle needles, valves, crossheads, gearbox and electric motor shafts, are machined. Available technologies include straight or angular plunge grinding, plunge grinding in single or multiple production, plunge grinding in several operations performed either simultaneously or sequentially, as well as oscillating plunge grinding.

Through-feed grinding is used for machining non-profiled workpieces, such as cylindrical and tapered rollers, rings, bars, and hydraulic slide valves. This grinding method is highly productive and mainly applied in series and mass production of precision parts. Centreless grinding is a process for grinding cylindrical bodies and is used for the mass production of rollers, cylinders, taper rollers, nozzle needles, pump pistons, hydraulic slides, crossheads, pins, etc. In centreless plunge grinding, the workpiece is ground in a single pass thanks to the translation of the grinding wheel. For this purpose, both the grinding and regulating wheels are given a negative profile of the workpiece to be machined using a dedicated tool. Centreless through-feed grinding, or through-feed and longitudinal grinding: The workpieces to be processed continuously pass through the grinding gap with axial feed.
