The finishing of the sealing surfaces of the approximately 17-meter-long tubes is carried out by means of an NC-controlled feed unit and an NC-controlled facing slide equipped with 2 ABS tool holders, suitable for either turning tools, measuring sensors, or measuring probes. The workpiece is first measured using the measuring sensors in the slide heads and aligned by adjustable roller supports. Once the tube is positioned at a right angle and central to the facing slide head, it is hydraulically clamped in place using the floating chuck jaw. The interchangeable measuring sensors calculate the required machining parameters for the surface processing.
